Review and Buying Guide of D-Link 8-Port PoE Gigabit Desktop Switch

The 1st factor to observe is that only 4 of the 8 ports aid poe – the other 4 are just normal ethernet ports. It can be crucial to realise this just before buying. The psu is a forty eight volt product, so be pretty very careful not to plug it into any other products by mistake, of you may well blow them up.I have the connector on mine incredibly obviously labelled. Develop is robust (steel scenario) and it works quite properly. I’ve experienced no issues in operation. I have three ip cameras linked to mine, and they work perfectly, even with ir energetic. My particular preference would be to have the psu integrated into the router and just use a kettle direct to energy it (making it less complicated to use a ups) even if the circumstance wanted to be much larger to accommodate it but this is the only serious discomfort. If you require a router with four poe ports, this should be around the major of your checklist.

Exactly what i required to power ip camera’s – ideal. Most economical i identified at the time and works a attraction.

Best for powering 48v poe stability camera’s. Set up as a part of a safety digital camera setup at a distant place. Bargain for the cash, and has tested to be reputable so much.

Comments from buyers

“Decent PoE switch, Ideal for powering 48V POE security camera’s, Excellent Product and Excellent Service”

Does the work for a good price tag. Disgrace all the ports usually are not poe however – only 4 of the 8 are. I purchased this to operate some poe ip cameras, and it really is doing that position perfectly.

Really practical not to have to put independent power materials to entry details and other ethernet objects.

Claims eight ports of tremendous gigabit connectivity–✔4 of them have comprehensive poe way too–✔worked to start with time with no fuss?. –✔powers ip cams about 90m of dodgy cat5 with quite a few again to again signing up for blocks?–✔perfect. Some poe equipment have proprietary benchmarks and get ‘fussy’ this looks fully by-the-ebook and has been fine with everything i have examined. Tricky establish, excellent devicenice to invest in a important piece of package and have it perform so effectively that it fades from your ‘worry list’ moving into a massive undertaking, and a good rate to cap it all.

Promises 8 ports of super gigabit connectivity–✔4 of them have full poe too–✔worked first time with no fuss?. –✔powers ip cams over 90m of dodgy cat5 with several back to back joining blocks?–✔perfect. Some poe devices have proprietary standards and get ‘fussy’ this seems totally by-the-book and has been fine with everything i have tested. Tough build, great devicenice to buy a critical piece of kit and have it work so well that it fades from your ‘worry list’ entering a big project, and a great price to cap it all.

Does what it says and very reasonable price. . I’ve installed this to provide power to a number of wireless access points; saves having power cabling all over the place. I also used b001ps4nww (tp-link tl-poe10r poe splitter) to power 2 devices that didn’t have poe support. Has external power brick necessary because of the relatively high power draw of 4 poe devices. It only gets 4 stars as it’s not the cure for cancer but it’s as good as you need to do the job.

The first thing to note is that only 4 of the 8 ports support poe – the other 4 are just standard ethernet ports. It’s important to realise this before purchasing. The psu is a 48 volt item, so be very careful not to plug it into any other devices by mistake, of you may blow them up.I have the connector on mine very clearly labelled. Build is robust (metal case) and it works very well. I’ve had no problems in operation. I have 3 ip cameras connected to mine, and they work perfectly, even with ir active. My personal preference would be to have the psu integrated into the router and just use a kettle lead to power it (making it easier to use a ups) even if the case needed to be larger to accommodate it but this is the only real irritation. If you need a router with 4 poe ports, this should be near the top of your list.

Very useful not to have to put separate power supplies to access points and other ethernet items.
