Review and Buying Guide of D-Link DGS-1210-28 28 Port Gigabit Smart Switch

Very first class layer two gb switch. Does what it states on the tin, i function in an it setting and this switch proved reputable and straightforward to use for the position it was expected to do. Plug in and join your devices to it, very simple as that.

Good high-quality product or service arrived on time and achieved the expectative. Very good excellent productarrived on time and reached the expectative.

Works a take care of straight from the box. It really is improved the velocity of the community much too even though our previous cables are cat5.

Comments from buyers

“Reliable and trouble-free, Great, reliable and value for money, First class layer 2 Gb switch”

Loads of attributes at a spending plan cost. Thanks to a challenge i was working on i desired to be in a position to have devices with a number of community cards connected to various vlans and also trunk various vlans down a solitary port. It was all achievable and relatively basic with this switch. I have not experimented with the other capabilities this sort of as qos so could not remark on those people.

Superb for the value, my unit operates a bunch of poe wireless routers distribute above an 18th century london house – now places of work. Gave up on vlan’s -not simply because of this gadget but the £1000+ hp switch that demands £2k+ really worth of training just to comprehend. 10 ports is a excellent thought when 8 are just not pretty sufficient.

Great, reliable and value for money. Great, reliable and value for money. If you are here you will be hitting the switching throughput, noise levels, port speeds or port density of your existing switches. This is a good product for small business, students and homes. Gigabit has become quite standard and with 150mbps fibre broadband, powerline technology and 802. 11ac wifi you will find 100 mbps ports become the bottleneck in your network. You can be certain of having lots of ports to play with on this switch with the added benefits of what a managed switch can offer and without the complexity of needing to know how to programme the switch in code. This is a fanless switch and so is excellent for home and office use. It is also great on keeping the bills down by being clever on which ports it keeps active and generally being not energy inefficient. Security and management features are supported as well as performance features such as jumbo frames and link aggregation (which will be handy for anyone looking at improving performance and connectivity to their personal cloud storage and nas systems).

‘little bit more pricey than i’d like. ‘little bit more pricey than i’d like. I’m relieved that it has a web interface. There is also a windows based app available for managing multiple devices. I am still unsure which changes require the save button at the top left to be used, so i tap it all the time.

Works well but the web interface isn’t that nice. One of the few 8 port fanless poe switches.

Lots of features at a budget price. Due to a project i was working on i needed to be able to have machines with multiple network cards connected to different vlans and also trunk multiple vlans down a single port. It was all possible and relatively simple with this switch. I haven’t tried the other features such as qos so couldn’t comment on those.

I’ve had one of these installed in our home office for about 9 months now, replacing a ‘consumer’ 8-way switch which had run out of ports. Installation is uncomplicated, it has a web-form based control interface which you can drive from any browser, so there’s no software to install. The only real setup to do is giving it an ip address (assuming the default isn’t what you want), then it’s ready to go as a simple 10/100/1g switch. You can then turn on additional settings (packet filtering, vlan, etc) as required. I’m pleased to report that in my setting it’s performed flawlessly since it was first turned on; i’m not doing anything particularly esoteric with it, but it’s never crashed or needed fiddling with. Importantly (for me) it’s silent in operation and doesn’t use a lot of electricity (under 10 watts), so doesn’t get hot. One thing to note – this isn’t the version which does power-over-ethernet; that’s the -28p model. Update 27/7/14: if you’re curious as to what a managed switch will let you do, i’m using these features:(a) traffic segmentation, which lets you control which destinations traffic arriving at a particular port can be sent to. So, i have a ‘guest’ wi-fi access point; its port can talk to the internet gateway, but not any other machines (e.

This works fine as a switch and is still good value for money but the technical description said that it is a poe source and it is not. If that hadn’t been a reason for purchasing i would have given it 5 stars. Amazon customer services were as good as usual and offered money back including postage costs. Decided to keep it in the end anyway.

Good product, complicated to set up. Good product, does take some time to set up, this is not just a plug and play item, you have to go into the smart wizaed and set up individual ip addresses. No really practical for home use, box is very big & you have switch inputs on the front of the box, with mains lead at the back, ideal for rack mounting not for the desktop. Once set up though works very well.
