Review and Buying Guide of Linksys LGS528 Business 26 Port Gigabit L2

Astounding price for the solution.

I bought this to exchange a 4-port switch, and environment it up was simplicity by itself – just plug and engage in. Genuinely nice that, not like earlier switches i’ve owned, you really don’t need to have a crossover cable to connect the switch to the rest of the network – it auto-detects the relationship and functions as ideal. Extremely little far more to say as, properly, it just works.

I bought this in to substitute my old tp connection 5 port desktop switch (i necessary much more ports in my house place of work just after the addition of a nas and a voip phone), and i was pleasantly surprised to discover it really is basically scaled-down, in spite of the extra three ports. Make quality is very sound and it really is electricity effective too. Leds are evidently labeled and the electrical power light is blue, generating the display really simple to browse, and it can be very well ventiliated. Every little thing related to it at gigabit velocity, no problems so far, knowledge transfer is reputable and steady. Surely impressed, so proposed.

Comments from buyers

“quiet and cool. And very fast, Get more FAST network connections easily, Does what it says on the tin, Good quality, simple, straightforward, Wired Speed improvement to wireless, Excellent piece of equipment”

Superb piece of gear. Great piece of machines. Performs very well with a nas and umpteen other lan equipment in a household business office surroundings. Powers a ubiquity lr wifi position. Does not look to get much too incredibly hot. Great info transfer fees on the lan. Selected this for the numerous poe standards vs other folks with fewer options to be foreseeable future proof.

Solid performer as a black friday cut price. . I am ashamed to say that i wanted to acquire this switch to tackle the amount of networked gadgets we have at residence. Linksys is not my normal brand choice for this sort of components, having said that the black friday low cost cost of £44. ninety nine created the selection worthwhile. This switch was the ultimate piece in a network enhance, sitting down driving an ubiquiti edgerouter lite three firewall router on a cat six 1gb network and forming the spine of our dwelling network, feeding a mix of cabled equipment (some as a result of supplemental tp-backlink 5 port switches) and numerous wireless products through two accessibility details (one netgear wac-one hundred twenty-100uks and 1 tp-url wpa220 kit fed by means of powerline). At this time nine ports are in use. The switch is quite compact for a 16 port just one, and was presented neatly packaged and shielded. It took less than five minutes to put in as it is an unmanaged switch. Though at first there appeared to be some issues with speed detection on some of the switch ports a further test of cabling and a reboot of the switch and router appeared to take care of the issue i suspect the problems we experienced have been brought on by my tweaking of the firewall and router configuration. We have now been operating this switch for two weeks with out configuration changes and have not viewed any more concerns speed checks affirm that we are consistently getting 170mb+ down and a continual 15mb up equally wired and wi-fi on a 200mb virgin media link.

This switch is modest, silent and interesting. I have utilized it to shift some networked kit into a further home. All the things that i unplugged from my router and plugged into this ongoing to function as it generally did, the gadgets even kept their old ip addresses. I just plugged 1 of the ports into a port on my router, unplugged gadgets from the router and plugged them into this switch. The course of action was actually uncomplicated, there is no clarification required. It feels like a reliable dependable little bit of kit that is likely to give several years of provider without having fuss. Extra electronics ought to be like this.

Basic features but ideal for the majority of home users. . Bought as a simple home switch for my parent’s house. I’m in it and have fancy managed cisco switches at work and dell managed switches at home but that’s overkill for my parents. They just needed something for their media cupboard to link together all their sky+ hd boxes, computer, hive, sonos etc and this does a good job in the standard home environment for light use. If you are throwing large media files (4k videos) etc around, or using a high performance qnap nas that needs link aggregation, load balancing etc then this isn’t for you. If you have an existing 8 or 16 port 100mbps switch and want to upgrade to giga bit then this will be a good replacement.

Does what it says on the tin. Does what it says on the tin, no issues so far but it is just a dumb switch so i shouldn’t think i’ll ever have a problem with it. Mainly bought it due to the power input being on the same side of the chassis as the rj45 connectors for cable management.

This switch is small, quiet and cool. I’ve used it to move some networked kit into another room. Everything that i unplugged from my router and plugged into this continued to work as it always did, the devices even kept their old ip addresses. I just plugged one of the ports into a port on my router, unplugged devices from the router and plugged them into this switch. The process was really simple, there is no explanation needed. It feels like a solid reliable bit of kit that is going to give many years of service without fuss. More electronics should be like this.
